The Exclusion Act is a report that uses data driven research to share insight & evidence to the film industry on where inclusion of British East & South East Asians [BESEA] is failing.

The headline findings of this study shows that in the past ten years, 0.8% or only 9 out of 1077 British films have been released theatrically by directors with a BESEA heritage. In the same period, on screen, BESEA acting talent in a main role featured in only 17 theatrical releases.

This report by Chi Thai & Delphine Lievens recommends simple actions to complex challenges that can create meaningful inclusion for the BESEA community & was published in Representology, the journal for media & diversity in collaboration with University of Birmingham & the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity.
