Chi Thai is an award-winning filmmaker whose remarkable journey has shaped her powerful storytelling. Fleeing Vietnam with her family in the 1980s, she was one of thousands of boat refugees risking everything in search of safety. Today, her voice resonates through groundbreaking work, including producing Raging Grace, a two-time SXSW 2023 Grand Jury Prize winner, and writing, producing, and directing Lullaby, which premiered at SXSW in 2024 and was honoured as Best Short Film at the Asian World Film Festival in 2024 and at the Cannes Diversity Showcase in 2025.
She is also the co-founder of the screening label, MilkTea & she co-authored alongside Delphine Lievens The Exclusion Act, a report published by Sir Lenny Henry Diversity in Media Centres EDI Journal: Representology, that uses data driven research to share insight & evidence to the film industry on where inclusion of British East & Southeast Asians is failing.
